About the piece:
Is fashion enhancing our inner beauty? As an extension of ourselves…
Or is fashion something we put on top? Vehicle of codes and symbols…
How do the medias and the internet influence fashion and set trends?
The 15 year old performers are constantly looking at their phones. Are they performing for their social networks or are they copying and being inspired by famous icons…?
The set of movements and concept of the piece is both exposing the students but also referring to a bow as well as embodying the digital generation .
In this work I was posing the question about how much do we get influenced by the medias that nowadays are a constant part of our existent because of the ongoing access to it. How does it shape our identity and affects our behaviors…? But also, how do we use and show ourselves on those networks? It seems as if it has become a big stage where people are in constant representation, performing for their platform of contacts, displaying and shaping their best selves. It is a celebration of the ego, an alienation of the senses.
